The number of students visiting Boggo Road continues to grow steadily each year. Students from all over Australia have visited the old prison. A large volume of student visitors to the gaol comes from primary and secondary schools. However, significant numbers of university and TAFE students come to gaol throughout the course of a year. The educational content of our tours is regularly monitored and updated to provide a quality experience for students. Students are encouraged to become involved in the tour, and are welcome to ask questions at any stage during the 60-minute tour. On completion of the tour, students are free to wander the site and make further discoveries. After this short period of self-discovery, it is recommended that a group question and answer session be held with the guide to allow the students to maximise the quality of their visit to the gaol. This session and tour takes around 90 minutes to complete, depending on the amount of questions asked by the students. A worksheet is available for students to fill out by contacting us or downloading one from this website.

Due to the century old construction of the gaol, wheel chair access is not available to all buildings on the site. Please advise management before your visit of individuals within your group that may have difficulty moving about the location, and every effort will be made to accommodate them. Tour times are flexible. However, ALL guided tours must be booked through management. Provided the time requested is not already booked, a guide will be made available for your group. School groups of all sizes are catered for. It is also expected that students will respect the site, and remembering that other visitors will be at the gaol, will conduct themselves accordingly. Please contact us for further details or email Michael Banks.
