Chris Dawson
Originally from Heywood, Lancashire, father-of-four Chris Dawson has lived in Brisbane since 1988. He gained a degree in Anthropology from the University of Queensland, and a Graduate Diploma in Applied and Local History (also UQ) in 2008. Inspired by his volunteer work as curator and historian at the Boggo Road Gaol Museum, he co-founded the BRGHS in 2003, and has been the secretary since 2004. He has written many local history books for Inside History on such themes as prisons, executions, suburb origins, cemeteries, and sharks. Chris has also had journal articles published by the Royal Historical Society of Queensland, is a contributor to the Queensland Historical Atlas and various local history projects, and is a member of the Professional Historians Association (Queensland). |
