Moonlight Tours a Success

12 December 2010

The Moonlight Tour schedule for 2010 wound up on Friday 10 December when volunteers took the last group for the year through the South Brisbane Cemetery.

The not-for-profit tours are a joint initiative of the BRGHS and the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery. They commenced in August 2010 and have proved to be very popular with visitors, with some great feedback being received.

Cemetery historian and tour guide Tracey Olivieri said:

"I think what people particularly enjoy, apart from the fact that the tours are so affordable and are for a good cause, is that they can ask questions at any time, and we can answer them. It helps to make each tour unique, as people have different interests and ask different questions of us. It has sparked some very interesting discussions at times, and we really enjoy it. "

The tours now go into summer recess to avoid the storm season, and the schedule for 2011 is being finalised with some interesting new special events planned for the year.
