Inspired by his volunteer work as curator and historian at the Boggo Road Gaol Museum, he co-founded the BRGHS in 2003, and has been the secretary since 2004. He written many local history books for Inside History on such themes as prisons, executions, suburb origins, cemeteries, and sharks. Tracey Olivieri |
Tracey was born in Brisbane and has lived most of her life in the local area, attending the Dutton Park school. She has two sons, and apart from her work as president of the BRGHS she is a scout leader at Tarragindi, secretary of the Friends of South Brisbane
Cemetery (FOSBC), and secretary of the Greater Brisbane Cemetery
Alliance. She also has an official volunteer position with the cemeteries department of the Ipswich City Council.
She co-founded the FOSBC in 2006, in order to look after what was a neglected site. Since then the FOSBC have done a wonderful job at the cemetery, and the renewed interest in the site from the public (and the Brisbane City Council) can be attributed solely to their efforts. Tracey has become a leading authority on the cemetery's history, and has written a number of books on the subject. |
